Never place turnstiles or locked gates across a required emergency exit. Gates near exit routes must fail open on fire alarm, or provide a separate alarmed emergency door. This is an OSHA and local fire-code requirement — specify, test and document it before commissioning.
Outdoor units need IP65 enclosures, heating kits for freezing sites, 304/316 stainless where corrosion is a risk, and battery backup so gates release safely on outage.
